Program for the Retention of PhDs in Brazil – PROFIX-CB (CNPq/CAPES/FAPEG). Deadline: October 1, 2026
CNPq, CAPES and the Goiás State Research Foundation (FAPEG) have launched Call No. 16/2026 — PROFIX-CB, aimed at attracting and retaining PhD holders at higher education institutions and at scientific, technological and innovation institutions based in the state of Goiás, Brazil. Total investment is R$ 30.7 million.
Thirty fellowships will be awarded under the Conhecimento Brasil scheme (BCB-1), worth R$ 13,000.00 per month for up to 48 months. Each approved proposal also receives one master's and one doctoral fellowship from CAPES, plus a FAPEG research grant of up to R$ 200,000.00.
Priority areas: information and communication technologies with emphasis on artificial intelligence; food tech; biotechnology, including pharmaceuticals and sustainable agricultural production systems; mining; civil construction; health; and public policy.
Requirements:
- Doctoral degree obtained in Brazil or equivalent obtained abroad
- No employment or functional link to a Brazilian institution at the start of the fellowship
- Prior consent from the host institution and graduate program regarding accreditation as faculty, if approved
- Lattes CV updated by the submission deadline
- Not retired under the General Social Security Regime or an equivalent scheme
