FAPEPI Opens Call for the Program to Support the Retention of PhD Researchers in Brazil (PROFIX-CB). Deadline: July 29, 2026.
The Piauí State Research Foundation — FAPEPI —, in partnership with CNPq and CAPES, Brazil's leading federal science agencies, has opened applications for PROFIX-CB, a national program designed to attract and retain PhD researchers at institutions in the state of Piauí.
24 scholarships are available, each worth R$ 13,000 per month for up to 4 years. Every approved project also receives a R$ 150,000 research grant, plus additional scholarships for master's students, doctoral students, and undergraduate research assistants — enabling researchers to build a full team.
Projects must be aligned with one of seven strategic priority areas: Agro and Bioeconomy, Digital Economy, GovTech and Infrastructure, Mineral Industry, Green Industry, Health and Biotechnology, or Tourism and Creative Economy.
To be eligible, applicants must have obtained their PhD no more than 15 years ago and must not hold an active employment contract at the time the scholarship begins. Applications are submitted through the SIGFAPEPI platform by July 29, 2026.
