FAPESP Agency – A postdoctoral opportunity in genomics and bioinformatics with a FAPESP fellowship is available through the project "Pangenomics of Bacuri (Platonia insignis), the "Gold of the Amazon": genomic-functional architecture and diversity to boost the improvement of emerging species". The application deadline is next Monday (06/15).

The project is conducted at the School of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences of São Paulo State University (FCAV-Unesp), Jaboticabal campus.

The position requires a completed doctorate in genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, biotechnology, biological sciences, agronomy, or related fields; experience in bioinformatics applied to genomes, transcriptomes, or comparative genomics; proficiency in Linux, command line, and pipelines; experience in areas such as genome assembly/annotation, transposable elements, LTRs, gene duplications, phylogenomics, molecular evolution, positive selection, or gene families; ability to document analyses and write articles in English.

Knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python, Perl, Bash, or similar will be considered a plus. Prior experience with large plant genomes, PacBio HiFi, ONT ultralong, Hi-C data, pangenomics, or plant genome evolution will also be valued. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work in a team, scientific independence, organizational skills, proactivity, responsibility in conducting analyses, strong oral and written communication, scientific proficiency in English, and willingness to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.

The postdoctoral opportunity is open to Brazilian and international candidates. The selected candidate will receive a monthly fellowship of R$ 12,570.00 and a Research Contingency Fund equivalent to 10% of the annual fellowship value to cover unforeseen expenses directly related to research activities.
